Nearly three months after the central government scrapped Jammu and Kashmir's decades-old special status under Article 370, the state has officially been split into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh - from midnight. The two new Union Territories have come into existence on the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is credited for the merger of over 560 princely states into the Union of India. Today, October 31, is also celebrated as National Unity Day. With the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, the number of states in India has come down to 28 and the number of Union Territories has gone up to nine. यूरोपियन यूनियन के 27 सांसदों का जम्मू-कश्मीर दौरा मंगलवार को ही डल झील में सफर के साथ ही खत्म हो गया. शुरू से ही इस दौरे को लेकर सवाल उठाए जा रहे थे. लेकिन अब यह सवालों के घेरे में घिर गया है. 27 में से चार सांसद कश्मीर गए ही नहीं. इन सांसदों की शिकायत थी कि उन्हें हालात समझने की खुली छूट नहीं दी जा रही थी. सवाल ये भी उठ रहा है कि इन सांसदों में ज़्यादातर दक्षिणपंथी रुझान वाले हैं। इस दौरे का इंतज़ाम किसने किया? किसने इसको पैसा दिया? इसके अलावा कश्मीर के कई नेताओं ने शिकायत की, कि उन्हें इस समूह से मिलने नहीं दिया गया. सुरक्षा के बेहद कड़े इंतज़ामों के बीच ईयू सांसद श्रीनगर घूमते रहे. उनकी सैर के बीच इत्तिफाक से वो हिरासत केंद्र भी आए और पीछे छूट गए जहां दर्जनों क़ैद नेताओं के साथ तीन पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री भी बंद हैं. लेकिन सरकार अगर इन्हें दिखाना चाहती थी कि सब कुछ ठीक है लेकिन ज़मीनी हालात इससे मेल नहीं खा रहे थे. स्थानीय नेताओं के मुताबिक आने वाले प्रतिनिधिमंडल के लिए सूनी सड़कें एक इशारा भर थीं.

कश्मीर के कुलगाम के कतारसू में आतंकियों ने मंगलवार रात 8:45 बजे कश्मीर से बाहर के पांच मजदूरों की हत्या कर दी. जम्मू कश्मीर पुलिस के मुताबिक आतंकी हमले में एक अन्य मजदूर जख्मी है जिसको अनंतनाग के जिला अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है.आतंकियों ने इस हमले को अंजाम तब दिया जब यूरोपीय सांसदों का एक 27 सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल जम्मू-कश्मीर के दौरे पर है. पुलिस के मुताबिक कुलगाम में पांच गैर कश्मीरी मजदूरों के शव बरामद किए जाने के बाद इलाके में तलाशी अभियान छेड़ा गया है. सेना, सीआरपीएफ और पुलिस के अतिरिक्त जवानों को भी इलाके में भेजा गया है.

A group of European Union MPs visited Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday with the opposition raising questions about foreign lawmakers being allowed in the state when Indian political leaders had been barred or turned away from the airport. 2-Year-Old Boy, Trapped In Tamil Nadu Borewell For 3 Days, Dies

A two-year-old boy, who fell into a borewell in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli three days ago, has died, government officials said early Tuesday morning. Sujith Wilson's body had decomposed inside the borewell. Authorities tried their best to rescue the boy, an official said, adding that the digging process was stopped soon after the body was located inside the borewell. Last night, government officials said that rescuing the boy would have taken 12 more hours. However, a foul smell from within the borewell led authorities to declare the boy's death. Officials later retrieved Sujith Wilson's body from inside the borewell and sent it for a postmortem examination.

CRPF काफिले पर आतंकियों ने किया ग्रेनेड अटैक

दीवाली की पूर्व संध्या पर जम्मू-कश्मीर (Jammu Kashmir) के श्रीनगर में आतंकवादियों ने ग्रेनेड हमला किया है. खबर है कि राजधानी श्रीनगर के करन नगर इलाके में शनिवार को केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के एक दल पर आतंकवादियों के ग्रेनेड हमले में उसके 6 जवान घायल हो गये. पुलिस ने बताया कि सीआरपीएफ का यह दल सुरक्षा चौकी संभाल रहा था, उसी बीच आतंकवादियों ने उस पर ग्रेनेड फेंका. इस हमले में छह जवान घायल हो गये. पुलिस के अनुसार ग्रेनेड तेज आवाज के साथ फटा और इलाके में दहशत फैल गयी. अधिकारियों के अनुसार सुरक्षाबलों ने जवाब में हवा में गोलियां चलायीं. घायल जवानों को हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती कराया गया है और डॉक्टर उनकी हालत पर बारीक नजर रखे हुए हैं.

Counting For Maharashtra, Haryana Today As BJP Hopes For Encore

The people's verdict on who will rule Maharashtra and Haryana for the next five years will be revealed today as the counting of assembly election votes begins at 8 am. The BJP, which is ruling both states -- Maharashtra in alliance with the Shiv Sena -- is seeking a second term. कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार कर्नाटक के पूर्व मंत्री डीके शिवकुमार से मुलाकात करने बुधवार को तिहाड़ जेल पहुंचीं. कांग्रेस सूत्रों के मुताबिक सोनिया सुबह करीब नौ बजे तिहाड़ पहुंचीं. एक सूत्र ने बताया कि सोनिया कर्नाटक के वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता शिवकुमार की खैरियत जानने के साथ-साथ उनके प्रति एकजुटता प्रकट करने जेल पहुंचीं. गौरतलब है कि मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार शिवकुमार को प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने कुछ हफ्ते पहले गिरफ्तार किया था और वह फिलहाल तिहाड़ जेल में बंद हैं. सोनिया ने आईएनएक्स मीडिया मामले में गिरफ्तार कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व वित्त मंत्री पी चिदंबरम से भी तिहाड़ पहुंचकर मुलाकात की थी.

कमलेश तिवारी हत्याकांड में बड़ी सफलता मिली है. गुजरात एटीएस ने हिंदू समाज पार्टी के नेता कमलेश तिवारी के फरार चल रहे दो कथित हत्यारे अशफाक और मोइनुद्दीन को गिरफ्तार किया है. दोनों की गिरफ्तारी गुजरात-राजस्थान सीमा से की गई है. बता दें कि कमलेश तिवारी की बीते शुक्रवार को लखनऊ में उनके घर में घुसकर हत्या कर दी गई थी. एक दिन पहले ही कमलेश तिवारी की हत्या में शामिल दो लोगों में से किसी एक की सूचना देने वाले को 2.50 लाख रुपये का नगद इनाम दिए जाने की घोषणा की गई थी. अगर यह सूचना दोनों के लिए होगी तो राशि 5 लाख रुपये हो जाएगी. यह ऐलान उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस के डीजीपी की ओर से किया गया था.

सरकारी नौकरियों पर असम सरकार का अहम फैसला

असम की सर्बानंद सोनोवाल सरकार ने राज्य में बढ़ती जनसंख्या को रोकने के लिए दो बच्चा नीति का विधेयक पास कर दिया है. इसके तहत अब उन्हीं लोगों को सरकारी नौकरी मिलेगी जिनके दो से अधिक बच्चे नहीं होंगे. विधेयक में कहा गया कि जनवरी 2021 के बाद से जिन लोगों के यहां से अधिक बच्चे होंगे उन्हें सरकारी नौकरी नहीं दी जाएगी. बता दें, असम विधानसभा ने दो साल पहले जनसंख्या नीति को अपनाया था और अब सोनोवाल सरकार ने यह फ़ैसला लिया है. सितंबर 2017 में असम विधानसभा ने असम की 'जनसंख्या और महिला सशक्तीकरण नीति' पारित की थी ताकि छोटे परिवार को प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके.

पी चिदंबरम को CBI वाले मामले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट से मिली जमानत

पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री पी चिदंबरम को सीबीआई की तरफ से दर्ज किए गए मामले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट से मंगलवार को जमानत मिल गई है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने देश नहीं छोड़ने के शर्त पर जमानत दी है. उन्हें एक लाख रुपए के निजी मुचलके पर जमानत दी गई. हालांकि कोर्ट ने कहा कि यदि किसी और मामले में पी चिदंबरम की जरूरत नहीं तो ही रिहा किया जाएगा. बता दें कि आईएनएक्स मीडिया भ्रष्टाचार मामले में पी.चिंदबरम को जमानत नहीं देने के दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के 30 सितंबर के फैसले को रद्द किया है. सीबीआई से इतर ईडी मामले में पी चिदंबरम हिरासत में हैं.

Army Attacks 4 Terror Camps In PoK With Artillery Fire: Sources

The army today launched attacks on terror camps located inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in which four to five Pakistan Army soldiers were killed and several were injured, sources said. According to sources, four terror launch pads in Neelam valley - opposite the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara - have been destroyed in the artillery strikes. Sources indicated that this was retaliation to the cross-border firing by Pakistan in Tangdhar, in which two Indian soldiers and a civilian died. Three others were also injured in the attack, which took place after midnight.
