Best Of #IndiaForKerala Telethon: Over Rs 10.2 Crore Collected For Kerala Flood Relief

The NDTV-Tata Sky #IndiaForKerala telethon raised over Rs 10 crore to help enable the rebuilding of villages in the three worst affected districts in Kerala. From corporate personalities to celebrities, several people appeared on the 6-hour telethon, speaking about the need of contributing to help rebuild Kerala. The biggest contribution came from strockbroker Pradeep Bhavnani, who donated Rs 5 crore at the telethon. Urging people to generously donate, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala needed help from the world to rebuild itself. CMs of several other states, namely Devendra Fadnavis, Conrad Sangma and Naveen Patnaik also urged people to donate and stand by Kerala at this time of crisis. The telethon saw performances from several singers such as Shaan, Tochi Raina, Shilpa Rao, as well as sitar maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Spokespersons from the Indian Army spoke about the army's exemplary rescue efforts during the crisis. Actors Abhishek Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Shruti Hassan and Nandita Das praised the coming together of India and lending Kerala a helping hand at a time of such crisis.
