The government has not taken any decision so far on the acquisition of the Russian Sukhoi-57 stealth fighter jet despite the overwhelming gap with the Chinese Air Force. China is believed to operate approximately 500 radar-evading J-20 and J-35 fighter jets while India presently has none in service with the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) close to a decade from its initial entry into Indian Air Force (IAF) service, assuming it clears integration and flight trials.

The first AMCA prototype is expected to roll out in September 2028, according to India's Defence Secretary RK Singh.

Himanta Sarma Lays Foundation Stone For Adani Power's 3,200 MW Assam Project

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Adani Power Limited's 3,200 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Chapar in Dhubri district, marking one of the largest private investments in the state's history.

The project, which entails an investment of around Rs 48,000 crore, is expected to significantly boost Assam's power generation capacity while creating large-scale employment opportunities.

According to the company, the plant is likely to generate up to 20,000 jobs during the construction phase and around 5,000 permanent and indirect jobs once it becomes operational.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by senior state government officials, industry representatives, community leaders and Adani Group Director Jeet Adani.

Two days after a girl was beaten to death at the ST bus stand in Bhavnagar city, police recreated the crime scene with the accused. The accused, identified as Faisal alias Khatki Lakhani, allegedly brutally assaulted and killed his girlfriend, Kajal Baraiya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a sharp dig at the opposition while contrasting the crises of 2013 with India's present strength. Referring to his last Independence Day address from the Red Fort on August 15, PM Modi said he had administered "homoeopathic pills" to critics by using the term "Dimagi Naxals."
