Manipur In Turmoil: A Timeline Of The Latest Unrest

One of the worst cycles of the Meitei-Kuki ethnic violence in Manipur since May 2023 began on November 7 in Jiribam district, 220 km from the state capital Imphal, on the interstate border with Assam. At least 19 people have died, including 10 Kuki men who the police have called "militants", in less than two weeks. The Kuki tribes claim the 10 men were "village volunteers". This multi-ethnic district, where a National Highway akin to a lifeline for Manipur passes through to reach Assam (and hence the rest of the country), had been violence-free for over a year until June, when the body of a Kuki teen was found in a river. Kuki civil society organisations had alleged a Meitei armed group killed the teen and dumped him into the river. Then the body of a Meitei man was found, allegedly killed by a Kuki armed group in a retaliatory strike. SC On Private Land Acquisition: सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने निजी संपत्ति विवाद में बड़ा फैसला सुनाया है. इस मामले में सीजेआई डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ ने फैसला सुनाते हुए कहा कि सभी निजी संपत्ति समुदाय के भौतिक संसाधन नहीं. कुछ निजी संपत्ति समुदाय के भौतिक संसाधन हो सकती हैं. ये ⁠9 जजों के संविधान पीठ का फैसला है, जिसने 1978 से लेकर अभी तक के सुप्रीम कोर्ट के कई फैसले पलट दिये हैं. सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चीफ जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूंड़ की अगुवाई वाली 9 जजों की बेंच दशकों पुराने इस विवाद पर अपना फैसला सुनाया है. भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ की अध्यक्षता वाली नौ-न्यायाधीशों की संविधान पीठ ने इस साल 1 मई को सुनवाई के बाद निजी संपत्ति मामले में अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिय था. मामले में फैसला सुनाते हुए सीजेआई डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ ने कहा, 'तीन जजमेंट हैं, मेरा और 6 जजों का... जस्टिस नागरत्ना का आंशिक सहमति वाला और जस्टिस धुलिया का असहमति वाला. हम मानते हैं कि अनुच्छेद 31सी को केशवानंद भारती मामले में जिस हद तक बरकरार रखा गया था, वह बरकरार है.

"Will Amend Laws To Deter Hoax Callers": Civil Aviation Minister On Bomb Threat Calls

After nearly 100 flights received bomb threats in seven days since October 14, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has said safety is the government's top priority and rules are being amended to put people who make such calls on the no-fly list. Making such threats will also be made a cognisable offence, with provisions for punishment and fines.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Mr Naidu said even though the threats have turned out to be hoaxes, there is a strict protocol that is followed by his department and airlines. "It is a very sensitive situation when it comes to such threats, there is an international procedure that we have to follow," he said.

Unified Pension Scheme: केंद्र सरकार ने न्यू पेंशन स्कीम (NPS) की जगह नई पेंशन स्कीम का ऐलान किया है. यूनिफाइड पेंशन स्कीम यानी UPS को 1 अप्रैल 2025 से लागू किया जाएगा. मोदी सरकार ने बताया कि इस स्कीम से 23 लाख केंद्रीय कर्मचारियों को फायदा होगा. हालांकि, कर्मचारियों के पास UPS या NPS में से कोई भी पेंशन स्कीम चुनने का ऑप्शन रहेगा. वहीं, अगर राज्य सरकार भी इसे अपना सकती हैं. UPS से एम्प्लॉयी कॉन्ट्रिब्यूशन का बोझ भी नहीं बढ़ेगा.

The gruesome murder and rape of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata has sent shockwaves across the country. Bollywood celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Richa Chadha, Navya Naveli Nanda, Zoya Akhtar and others vented their rage against the lack of women safety in the country in poignant words. At least 14 people were killed in rain-related incidents across Rajasthan on Sunday while five people were washed away by the gushing water of Kanota Dam in the capital Jaipur, officials said. कहते हैं सत्ता का नशा किसी भी दूसरे नशे से ज़्यादा बड़ा होता है, कई लोग इस नशे को संभाल नहीं पाते. ऐसे कई मामले आए दिन सामने आते हैं जब सत्ता के मद में चूर कोई नेता या अफ़सर आम जनता को कुछ समझता ही नहीं. कई ऐसे होते हैं जो सत्ता हाथ में आते ही उसका रौब दिखाने में देर नहीं करते. ऐसा ही एक मामला सामने आया है महाराष्ट्र से. यहां प्रोबेशन पर तैनात एक आईएएस अफ़सर पूजा खेडकर (Pooja Khedkar) ने कथित तौर पर सत्ता का दुरुपयोग किया. आरोपों के मुताबिक प्रोबेशन पर रहते हुए ही उन्होंने पुणे जिला कलेक्टर से अलग कार्यालय और स्टाफ़ की मांग की, वीआईपी नंबर प्लेट वाली ऑफ़िशियल कार और एक घर की मांग की. जब ये मांग उन्होंने की, तब तक तो उन्होंने पुणे में सहायक कलेक्टर के रूप में कार्यभार भी नहीं संभाला था और नियमों के मुताबिक वो इसकी हक़दार भी नहीं थीं. पुणे के कलेक्टर ने जब राज्य के चीफ़ सेक्रेटरी से उनकी शिकायत की तो राज्य सरकार ने उनका ट्रांसफ़र पुणे से वाशिम कर दिया. इसके बाद अब ये आरोप भी लग रहे हैं कि सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में रियायत पाने के लिये रेखा खेड़कर ने अपने बारे में ग़लत जानकारियां दीं.और तो और दाखिले के लिये ज़रुरी जो मेडिकल टेस्ट कराने होते हैं. वो तक पूरे नहीं कराये.

Taking a cue from the exit polls predicting a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP has begun preparations for its victory celebrations in Delhi and elsewhere. A grand roadshow is also being planned from the Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi, where the Prime Minister's official residence is located, to the BJP headquarters, sources said. An aggregate of 12 exit polls on Saturday predicted a thumping victory for the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. It gave 365 seats to the NDA alliance led by the BJP, much higher than the 272-mark a party needs to cross to form government in the country.

A woman lay down on the road in front of the Deputy Commissioner of Police's office in southwest Delhi, asking the cops to arrange her stay in a hotel. The bizarre incident took place in Mahipalpur outside the DCP office. The woman, Sangeeta, lay down on the ground holding her dog and was screaming, "Mujhe koi nahi chahiye (I don't want anyone) as a woman tried to pacify her to get up.  A crowd had gathered as the woman blocked a section of the road in the evening as a cop tried to manage the traffic.
