How India Plans To Provide Tap Water To All Homes, Jal Shakti Minister Explains

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, told NDTV today the Centre is aiming at ensuring tap water is available in every household across the country. Mr Shekhawat also said Rs 4,000 crore had been spent on the Namami Gange project in the past 20 years, but the entire exercise was not scientific, holistic or integrated. "So we have not seen the kind of result we wanted to see. When PM Narendra Modi came in 2014, we started holistic planning. I can proudly say now that the United Nations, recognising this as a decade of restoration, had taken submissions from over 160 countries who worked on similar projects. I'm proud to say that the Namami Gange project came in the top 10 projects recognised by the UN," Mr Shekhawat said.
