Ex-CBI Chief Alok Verma's Retirement Benefits To Be Put On Hold By Centre

The Home Ministry has decided to take action against former CBI boss Alok Verma for not taking charge as Director General, Fire Services after he was sacked as the chief of the country's premier investigation agency earlier this month. All retirement benefits of Alok Verma will be put on hold and disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against him for not joining the new posting, a senior official in the ministry told NDTV.

दो दिनों बाद कोच्चि और चेन्नई में पहली प्रो-वॉलीबॉल लीग शुरू होगी जिसे लेकर इस खेल के चाहने वालों में थोड़ी बेताबी तो है. लेकिन इस खेल से जुड़े अधिकारी, अब भी बाक़ी लीगों की तुलना में इसे लोकप्रिय बनाने की ज़ोर-शोर से कोशिश करते नहीं दिख रहे. फिर भी खिलाड़ी और आयोजक इसके हिट होने की उम्मीद कर रहे हैं. भारतीय बैडमिंटन स्टार पीवी सिंधु के माता-पिता (विजया सिंधु और पीवी रमन्ना) इस खेल में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर तक टीम की नुमाइंदगी करते रहे. लेकिन ये भी सच है कि उन्हें भी बड़ी पहचान सिंधु के ज़रिये ही हासिल हो पाई. शायद बहुत कम लोग जानते हों कि पीवी सिंधु के पिता पीवी रमनन्ना ने 1986 के सिओल एशियाड में भारतीय टीम के साथ कांस्य पदक जीता था. इस लीग को लेकर बैडमिंटन स्टार पीवी सिंधु बेहद उत्साहित हैं. वो कहती हैं, "यकीनन इस लीग की ज़रूरत थी. इससे इस खेल को ज़रूर फ़ायदा होना चाहिए."
