Row Over Ashoka University Professor's Poll Paper
A research paper by a professor at Ashoka University has sparked a political row - the paper suggests electoral manipulation in the Indian 2019 general elections, alleging a mismatch in Election Commission data and BJP winning a disproportionately high number of close contests, especially in the BJP-incumbent states. The BJP as well as some analysts have slammed the professor citing insufficient data, while Ashoka University has distanced itself from the report - but on Left, Right and Centre, we ask - is there any merit to Professor Sabyasachi Das' argument? Or is it unfair to run down the biggest democratic elections in the world?

While Mr Pawar's decision to be on the stage with Mr Modi which was a pre-planned event drew unease in MVA partners, especially the Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction, which through Saamna editorial criticised the veteran leader's decision. However, in the end both PM Modi and Mr Pawar avoided making any direct political statements on the current situation in the country or the state.
